Tanki Online is a massively multiplayer online game based on Adobe Flash technology.
The game was created in mid-2008 by the AlternativaPlatform company, located in Perm, Russia[1]. Alternativa's team participated in creation of projects for many eminent brands. At the beginning of 2009 the game received prestigious Russian КRI Awards 2009 in nominations "Best game without a publisher" and "Best technology". Another award won is Russian Flash Awards 2009 : "Technical achievement".[2]
Players command tanks, for which they can buy upgrades and bonuses with ingame currency in the form of crystals that are allocated to (or purchased by) players, relative to the amount of points a player scores in a match. Crystals, and other bonuses, can occasionally be found on the battlefield itself. The game features several game modes - Deathmatch, Team deathmatch, and Capture the flag. Another feature is a rank system, indicating a player's skill and the upgrades they have access to, but also allowing players to organize evenly-matched battles based on the rank of the players in the game. Matches can also be restricted to allow only players with specific ranks.
